Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
