Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities concluded he posed a definite escape threat while under house arrest.

The one-time leader was sentenced of orchestrating a government overthrow in September and given more than 27 years in jail, but he was staying under confinement pending legal challenges.

Top Judicial Official the presiding justice said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a preventative measure after "new facts" were revealed.

This involved trying to remove his ankle monitor and a call for a demonstration that could "allow for a potential flight.

Legal Document Reveals Escape Risks

In a paperwork permitting the arrest, the magistrate said information from the unit overseeing his home detention suggested the ex-president's "intention to break the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his flight.

This, it said, would be made easier by the disorder caused by the demonstration called by his offspring.

His child, Flávio, who holds office as a legislator, called for a gathering of his supporters near Bolsonaro's home to take place on the weekend.

Flávio Bolsonaro wrote on social media on Friday: "Are you going to fight for your nation, or see it all from your mobile device there on your settee? I urge you to struggle with us."

He said the gathering would be so backers could "pray for his physical condition and for the return of democracy in our country."

Part of the magistrate's decision was the possibility of his transfer to diplomatic missions near the home, considering that the inquiries revealed a history of arranging to ask for protection through a consular facility", a statement said.

The judicial paperwork underscores that the American diplomatic mission in the national capital, Brazil's capital, is positioned around 13km from his dwelling.

Global Responses

His judicial problems have drawn the ire of fellow populist conservative American leader Donald Trump, causing him to enact a fifty percent tax on Brazilian product imports.

He is being held in a Federal Police station in Brazil's capital city and will experience a custody hearing on the next day.

Recent Legal Requests

It was only on last Friday that the his legal team asked the Supreme Court to permit him to serve his whole jail sentence under house arrest, with electronic monitoring.

They also requested that Bolsonaro be permitted to leave his home for medical care, saying he demanded ongoing care for pulmonary infections and other ailments.

Details of Guilty Verdict

He was found guilty of leading a plot aimed at retaining his authority after he was defeated in the presidential race to his ideological adversary, Lula.

Top judicial officials said that he was aware of a plot which involved plans to murder the current president and his VP candidate, Alckmin, and to imprison and murder Justice Moraes - the High Court judge who has been presiding over his judicial proceedings.

The conspiracy was prevented because it couldn't obtain the support of the armed forces officials. The current president was took office without problem on 1 January 2023.

But a following week, on the eighth of January, many Bolsonaro supporters invaded and destroyed official structures in the national capital, the capital city.

The police took action and around 1,500 people were taken into custody.

The judges found that the protesters had been provoked by him whose plan, they said, was for the Brazilian military to take action, bring back stability and reinstate his authority.

At the time, the legal team called the 27 years and three months sentence "absurdly excessive.

He was also banned from campaigning for office until 2060 - a decade minus two years after the conclusion of his imprisonment.

The one-time head of state called the trial a "witch hunt and said it was intended to stop him participating in the next presidential race.
